Solar Astronomy Presentation & Walk

Solar Astronomy Presentation & Walk In-Person

DUE TO WEATHER, OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES ARE CANCELED. Eclipse coloring activities will be available in the Children's Department.

The Astronomical Society of New Haven will discuss how the Sun can be safely viewed during the coming solar eclipses. There will be an annular eclipse on Saturday, October 14, and a full eclipse next year on April 8, 2024. ASNH will also be hosting a scaled solar system walk to demonstrate the vast distances involved in astronomy. Telescopes will be available to view the Sun, and a limited number of solar glasses will be distributed to participants during the event. A Q&A session will follow the presentation. This is a family event! Shadow tracing, and eclipse chalk-art activities will be available for children as well. The presentation will happen rain or shine, but the solar viewing and walk are weather dependent.
